Jean Yann Records presents Kindling, Alex Daniell’s second album. In this new journey Alex takes a small step away from his traditionally organic style to explore and thrive in a more electronic and analogue environment. This more personal LP vacillates between Alex’s signature joyful melodic tracks and some darker more electronic tones. The darker tracks aim to reflect and acknowledge the hard times most of us go through at some point in our lives. Titles like ‘Kindling’ on the other hand express optimism and hope that these moments will be overcome in time. Introspectively, the vision behind this album is that human emotions benefit from the balance between joyful and the hard times. These experiences, life lessons or steps consequently provide us with better building blocks (or kindling) for a happier future. The album conveys the importance of self-reflection and the ability to translate those emotions onto ‘paper’ or into music.
