Ackermanns debut album 'Stadium Techno' on Safe Space
Hold on, this isn't stadium techno, is it even techno?
I wanted to make the album my 14 year old self with his first Cubase would have made in the 90s if he already had the same knowledge and equipment i have now but with the same naive goal of just having fun and making something i can feel without worrying about polishing it or if someone would even be interested in it, because it wasn't important at all back then.
So here we go: my debut album is probably techno in some way but also a genre defying collection of tracks by someone who played guitar, sang, recorded mouthfarts and sampled his favorite music back then. The last few years i have been designing (means mixing, arranging, mastering) tracks meticulously for dancefloors for a living by doing mastering and mixdowns for clients or making stuff for my own aliases always aiming for maximum impact and perfect audio quality.
However, as much as i love doing this i felt the unfiltered emotional aspect of making music bypassing the brain felt through the cracks a lot of the time i was in my studio.
So the idea grew on me that the first Ackermann album (there's 2 this year and the second one is the exact opposite of this approach) now after years i gained technical abilities that i lacked when starting out as a youth in my room should be the attempt of getting back the naivety to produce something raw and unpolished that makes me feel and surprise myself with the outcome without worrying or thinking about it beforehand.
That's my stadium techno album. An album made with lots of melodies, hooklines, references that might be so out of touch with the now and deemed 'not cool' in the perception of most of the scene atm that none of the big techno labels would probably touch it with a ten foot pole anyway and that's perfectly fine. But in a way its all  hits for me that stood the test of time and in a parallel universe where my 14 year old self still lives they may be actual hits. I collected them over a very long period of time and still feel them. I tried my best not to polish the mix better or arrange them for more floor optimization and just keep that 'in-my-room-alone-making-something-i-can-feel' vibe.
I picked up my dusty guitar, recorded my cranky voice, used references, samples, sounds and vibes that take me back to the time i fell in love with making electronic music before i knew what the actual f### i was doing. Maybe you can feel it? If not, that's perfectly fine too.
