Legendary American R&B songstress Monifah drops her new single, “Testify” through Quantize Recordings. Co-written and produced by Grammy-nominated artist Anthony Giles, it's a fiery, gospel-infused anthem that will have listeners throwing their hands in the air.
"'Testify” shouts to the Most High, proclaiming the gospel of self-love ...trust and believe It's gonna take the entire dance music community by storm! Listening to the Original and accompanying remixes, it's hard to disagree. A relentless bass-and-synth riff and gospel piano chords provide the perfect backdrop for Monifah's characteristically strong, impassioned vocal. 

As well as singing of faith filled exultation, the melody and lyrics also recall the very best of old-school dance and R&B. The remixes take “Testify's distinctive blueprint in different directions. The Anthony Giles' 622 rework centers Monifah's vocal around a relentless four-to-the-floor beat; DJ Filippe FERR heads it into funky house territory; DJ Beloved & Matt Knight get deep, adding house organ and a satisfyingly squelchy bassline, and finally, producers Terence Abney and Marcella known collectively as Lady and the Tramp brings a distinctively European flavour, with the vocals spread out across a sparse backdrop of dark analogue synths and heavily reverbed percussion.
 
Discerning R&B fans will be familiar with Monifah and her work. She burst onto the scene back in 1996 with her acclaimed debut album, Moods...Moments, which hit the Billboard R&B Top 10 and spawned the hit single “You”. Her sophomore album, 1998's Mo'hogany, contained the worldwide hit “Touch It”, which made the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, was a hit across Europe, and went platinum in Australia.
