The Rum Baba

The Rum Baba is a Bristol based producer who was first discovered on Soundcloud and released 'Stop Talk' and '80's Animal' on a New York  label Ninthwave in 2012. These tracks went on to be championed by Manchester stalwarts Dub Phizix, Strategy and Chimpo with Dub Phizix also including 'Stop Talk' on his eponymous Fabric Live 84 CD.

Hailed in Fact Magazine's best Bandcamp releases of August 2014 and a remix of 'Baile Folk Girls' included on Chuck Upbeat's Mad Decent supported EP. The Rum Baba went on to co-write 'No One Else' with Mikal for his critically acclaimed 'Wilderness' album on Goldie's Metalheadz. After two further EP's, Doc Scott requested tracks that eventually led to this next release for his label 31 Recordings. Five very different tracks all with the unmistakable Rum Baba sound that also includes a fresh exclusive VIP rework of Stop Talk. 

Defined as reggae, moombahton, tropical bass, drum and bass, dancehall and hip hop, amongst a myriad of other genres. The Rum Baba has a distinctive and often-named "trademark" style mostly inspired by a childhood immersed in UK and Caribbean Bass culture and latterly hanging out with way too many DnB producers. 

Supported by Doc Scott, Dub Phizix, Chimpo, Strategy, Break, Om Unit, Mikal, Ivy Lab, Storm, London Elektricity, Blu Mar Ten, Friction, Mako, RIOT (Buraka Som Sistema), Think Tonk, Equiknoxx, Hipsters Don't Dance, Rukus, Smutlee and played in all the usual outlets like BBC Radio 1 and 1XTRA, BBC 6 Music, RMX (Mexico), Noisey (Vice), The Selector (British Council), Rinse FM and Radar Radio etc. etc.
